About Hampshire Association for Counselling and Pschotherapy. (HCAP)

Hampshire Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (HACP) is an organization local to Hampshire and the Isle of Wight which, since its inception in 1990 has been both a meeting point for those who are qualified, or students in the Counselling and Psychotherapy professions, as well as being a valuable resource for the general public to access those offering psychotherapeutic services in the area.

Resisting the initial invitation to amalgamate with the national body, The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), HACP has maintained its independence and remained faithful to its local focus.

HACP has steadily increased from the original handful of individuals to an annual membership of around 280, aided over the years by a succession of committed, dedicated supporters particularly David and Kate Dawson-Tayor who have generously given of their time and effort to building the Association to its current strength. As a non profit-making organization, it is a tribute to each of these people who have served in any capacity to further its aims.

Operating with an annually elected committee and, more recently, a paid Administrator, the organization provides a varied monthly evening programme where like minded people can meet, Training Days, a valued and widely recognized Resource Directory, Information, Networking, support to its members via the Website and a representative presence for the psychotherapeutic professions in Hampshire.

Email access to the majority of members has greatly enhanced day to day communication and 2008 has seen the culmination of much hard work as the website and image of HACP have received their long awaited makeover to further benefit both members and public alike.

Many future and potential developments are envisioned - their realization limited only by the many time constraints on busy individuals to make them happen. We warmly invite your interest!
